Join a bill without an account

The person who scanned the receipt has SumFair open. Everyone else just has a phone. That is enough: open the link, type a name, tap what you had.

    Scan the QR code the host shows, or tap the link in the chat. It opens in your browser; nothing is downloaded and no store is involved.

  2. Type your name

    A first name is all that's needed, so the others recognise you on the receipt. No email, no phone number, no password, no verification code.

  3. Tap what you had

    The receipt appears as a list. Tap your items. For a shared plate, tap it and choose equal, shares, percentage or exact amounts. Claimed two of the four beers? Say two.

  4. See your total

    Food, deposits, service and tip, itemised. Copy the amount or the host's IBAN, pay the way you usually do, and mark it as paid.

Why guests never need an account

Most of the people at any table will use SumFair once, for ten minutes. Asking them to sign up is the reason bill-splitting apps stay on one phone.

Guest-first by design
Participation requires no account, email, phone or app. The host doesn't need an account either; a free account only adds history, saved groups and sync.
Links you can't guess
The invite link is a long random token with no personal data in it. The host can regenerate or expire it at any time.
Any phone, any browser
Works on iPhone and Android, on old phones and on a laptop. Built for one hand, small screens and bad restaurant Wi-Fi.
Live, but with a referee
Claims appear for everyone in real time. If two people tap the same item at once, the server decides and shows who got it; nothing is silently overwritten.
Only your own claims
A guest can claim, unclaim and split their own items and see their own balance. Totals, payers and the receipt itself belong to the host.
Nothing left behind
No profile is created. Guest names live as long as the bill, and anonymous bills expire automatically after 30 days.

What information does a guest give?
A first name, typed by the guest. Nothing else is requested: no email, phone number, password, address or payment details.
Can a guest see what others had?
By default a guest sees the shared receipt with everyone's claims, because that is how shared items get split honestly. The host can restrict guests to their own items.
What can a guest not do?
Delete the receipt, change the total, change who paid, close the bill, or edit other people's claims without permission.
Is anything kept after the bill is settled?
Guest names and claims live as long as the bill. Anonymous bills are deleted 30 days after the last change. No guest profile persists.
