Everything SumFair does

The complete list, grouped by what you're trying to do. All of it is included in the free plan unless marked as planned.

Receipt scanning

SumFair reads the structure of a receipt, not just the text, so what you get back is a list of editable lines that add up.

Multi-photo receipts
Long receipt? Photograph it in two or three overlapping parts. SumFair detects the overlap, removes duplicated lines and rebuilds a single receipt. Photos can also come from your gallery.
Semantic parsing
Item names, quantities, unit prices, line totals, subtotal, discounts, VAT and other taxes, service charges, deposits and the printed total are identified separately, with a confidence level per line.
Reconciliation check
Items + taxes + fees + deposits + tip − discounts is compared with the printed total continuously. A mismatch shows the exact difference and highlights low-confidence lines.
Everything is editable
Tap any line to rename, change quantity or price, delete, add, merge duplicates or split an aggregated line. Tap, edit, save.
Country rules
A localisation layer understands how receipts look in each country: Romanian SGR deposit and VAT, German Pfand, Italian coperto and servizio, French service compris, US sales tax and suggested tip lines. Fees are attached to the products they belong to.

Splitting

Every item can be split the way people actually shared it.

Claim by item
Tap what you had. The item is yours, including any deposit or fee attached to it.
Share equally
Three people on the nachos means 12.00 each, with exact rounding when it doesn't divide evenly.
Exact amounts, percentages, shares
Wine at 20 / 40 / 60, or 25% / 25% / 50%, or 1 : 1 : 2 shares. Use whichever matches the conversation at the table.
Quantity-based
"4 × beer" can be split as 2, 1 and 1 without anyone calculating percentages.
Unclaimed detection
Before finalizing, SumFair lists what is still unclaimed and asks: assign, split between everyone, payer absorbs, or ignore on purpose.
Real-time collaboration
Claims appear for everyone instantly. If two people tap the same item, the second sees who already has it and can share it instead of overwriting.

Tips, service and taxes

Different kinds of extra charges follow different rules, so SumFair keeps them apart.

Tip from what was paid
Enter the receipt total and what was actually paid; the difference is the tip. Or enter the tip directly, or mark a service charge as already included.
Proportional by default
Someone who had 25% of the food pays 25% of the tip. Switch to equal, percentage, custom amounts, exclude a person, or no tip.
Service charge vs tip vs tax
A mandatory service charge, a voluntary tip and taxes are separate lines with separate allocation rules.
Deposits attached to items
A 0.50 lei SGR deposit on a bottle follows whoever claims the bottle, and is shared if the bottle is shared.

Trips and groups

Many expenses, many days, many payers, many currencies.

Expense types
Scanned receipts, manual expenses, transfers between people, refunds and shared income (a returned deposit, a voucher) all live in the same ledger.
Multiple payers
One dinner paid 80 by Alex and 20 by Maria is recorded exactly that way.
Multi-currency
Each expense keeps its original currency and amount. The trip has a base currency, and the exchange rate, timestamp and source are stored with the expense and never change retroactively.
Debt simplification
Balances are reduced to the fewest transfers that settle everyone exactly.
Partial settlement
Settle everything, everything until today, selected dates, selected expenses or selected people, for example when someone leaves early.
Checkpoints and reopen
Settled expenses are frozen in a checkpoint with balances, transfers and a timestamp. Reopening requires explicit confirmation and leaves an audit trail.

Accounts and privacy

Guests never need an account. Hosts get one only for convenience.

Guest-first
Open the link, type a name, claim items, see what you owe. No email, no phone, no install.
Optional host account
Adds history, saved groups and trips, favourites, preferences, backup and sync across devices. Never required for the basic flow.
Safe share links
Links are long random tokens with no personal data. Guest sessions have limited retention.
Financial exactness
All money is stored in whole minor units. The sum of shares always equals the total paid. Rounding is deterministic and auditable.
Built for GDPR
Data minimisation, limited retention, no sale of data. Receipt images are used only to read the receipt.

Paying each other

SumFair shows the numbers and gets out of the way. It does not hold or move money.

Clear per-person result
Food, deposits, service, tip and total, per person, plus who to pay.
Copy IBAN or phone, payment request links
One tap to copy the payer's details or open a request link, then mark as paid.
Planned
Deep links to popular payment apps and local payment providers.
